Wenger Praises Mourinho’s “quiet resolve”

Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger has spoken of his admiration for the dignified manner in which his Chelsea counterpart José Mourinho goes about his business. “He’s amazing” Wenger observed with an affectionate smile at a press conference ahead of the resurgent Gunners’ clash with Everton on Saturday, “everybody knows that José is a winner and always has been. But what I really love about him is the way that, even in adversity, he treats everyone graciously and never loses sight of the fact that, after all, football is just a game. You know, he began his coaching career under one of the game’s great gentlemen, the wonderful Sir Bobby Robson – and you can see how that humility rubbed off on him.” Wenger added that he was looking forward to welcoming Chelsea to the Emirates Stadium later in the season where, “win, lose or draw”, the two bosses will share a bottle of vintage wine and indulge their mutual passion for late medieval Italian poetry.
