So, after a thoroughly entertaining FA Cup third round weekend (congratulations Oxford! And great to see Leeds safely into the hat after finally getting a very satisfying win over Rotherham) it’s straight back into the Premier League action. Let’s see if I can further extend my lead over Merse . . .
Aston Villa 0 – 2 Crystal Palace (I’m thinking lots of ineffectual effort and toil from Villa, whose heads drop when Palace take the lead in the second half – and then the Eagles rub salt into the wound by doing them on the break late on)
Bournemouth 1 – 1 West Ham United
Newcastle United 1 – 0 Manchester United
Chelsea 3 – 1 West Bromwich Albion
Manchester City 2 – 0 Everton
Southampton 1 – 1 Watford
Stoke City 2 – 1 Norwich City *
Swansea City 3 – 2 Sunderland
Liverpool 1 – 2 Arsenal
Tottenham Hotspur 2 – 1 Leicester City (they’ll be sick of the sight of each other, won’t they? Still, if it’s anything like as entertaining as their FA Cup match yesterday, it will be well worth watching – and based on that game, I’ll go for Spurs to edge it. Hope I’m wrong, though – Foxes for the Champs League!)
The verdict . . .

Paul Merson neglected to make predictions for the three Tuesday games, the rotter. Seems a bit unfair to me, but I’ll give him the victory nonetheless, on what was a shocking midweek for the pair of us.
As it stands: Me 11 – 10 Merse
